Who We Are

Nayiari Community Initiative is a women-led, indigenous non-profit organization based in Narok and Kajiado Counties, Kenya. Registered under the NGO Coordination Act in 2025, it is governed by an advisory board of five women and three men.

“Nayiari” is a Maasai word that means one who is sought after or one that people run to for help. We endeavor to be a place of hope, information and empowerment for communities and provide a space where women and girls can explore their full potential.

The organization works to enhance community resilience to climate change, promote environmental conservation, advance gender equality, and improve access to reproductive, maternal, and infant health services. It also champions the documentation and preservation of Maasai indigenous knowledge.

Its work is driven by community participation, and delivered through advocacy, capacity building, documentation, and information sharing. Collaboration with schools, health centers, and grassroots communities is central, alongside partnerships with public and private stakeholders. Community engagement and participation in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes is our priority.
